About Jack

Jack Smith came up through the Swarm. He joined CovertSwarm in September 2021 as a Hive Member and  became a Hive Leader in October 2022, and was promoted to Senior Hive Leader in April 2025.

Today Jack leads a Hive of ethical hackers. His own focus is social engineering, web application security and infrastructure hacking. That means attacking the people, the applications and the networks that sit between an attacker and the business.

Before CovertSwarm, Jack worked at SureCloud from 2019 to 2021, starting as an Associate Cybersecurity Consultant and moving up to Cyber Security Consultant. He studied Computer Science at the University of East Anglia.

Jack also founded CovertSwarm’s Academy program. It exists to help people break into ethical hacking, whatever their background. He mentors new entrants and speaks about how to get started in the field.

• Cyber East event at West Suffolk College (spring 2025), speaking on getting into cybersecurity and ethical hacking.
