What is the difference between DevOps and DevSecOps?

Development Operations (DevOps) and Development Security Operations (DevSecOps) although share similar principles have slightly different areas for concern.

Where DevOps has a primary focus on improving or streamlining the development workflow focusing on coding, function testing and product deployment. DevSecOps has a primary focus on embedding security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

DevSecOps benefits

A key benefit of DevSecOps is the speed organisations can react to identified security vulnerabilities. As DevSecOps integrates vulnerability testing and security reviews to ensure for example, that the latest security updates or patches have been implemented reducing potential exposure or risk prior to launching any new products.
